The gap

Britain eats from a surprisingly small crop base.

We are adding new crops to foods people already understand.

Crop 01

Bambara groundnut.

A legume that ripens its pods underground, grows in heat and poor soil, and fixes nitrogen for the next crop. The dry seed carries up to 26% protein and the lysine that wheat and oats are short of.

Source: published composition range for Bambara dry seed, 19 to 26% protein. Our own variety results are published per batch in the Crop Passport.
